Jim Rupp

Local historian Jim Rupp shows images and discusses some of the artwork featured in his book, Art in Seattle’s Public Spaces: From Sodo to South Lake Union (University of Washington Press), a comprehensive guide to public art on display indoors, on street corners, or in public parks in downtown Seattle.  Fine art photographer Miguel Edwards’s color photographs illustrate the book, which includes images, artist information, funding source and location of all of the art (including sculpture, paintings, videos and other artworks). Some local favorites include the John T. Williams Honor Totem, Sarah Sze’s McCaw Hall lobby assemblage and Buster Simpson’s Harbor Steps Monument, but you’ll find that you have walked right by many art works in spaces you pass through every day.
