Josephine Ensign makes a most welcome return to our stage and to Seattle tonight to read from her new book, Soul Stories: Voices from the Margins (University of California Medical Humanities Press). Soul Stories is informed by the author’s scholarly research and her thirty years’ experience as a nurse providing health care to people marginalized by poverty and homelessness. Josephine Ensign’s previous book, Catching Homelessness, won an American Journal of Nursing 2017 Book of the Year Award for Creative Work and was read across disciplines as a “University of Washington Health Sciences Common Book.”
A portion of the proceeds from tonight’s book sales and any additional cash donations will be donated to the Elizabeth Gregory Home, which serves single homeless women in the greater Seattle area by providing transitional housing, a day center and case management services. More information at eghseattle.org. Co-presented with the Elizabeth Gregory Home.
