Kate Schatz and Miriam Klein Stahl, author and illustrator (respectively) of the wonderful Rad American Women A-Z, (City Lights) return tonight to speak about Rad Women Worldwide : Artists and Athletes, Pirates and Punks, and Other Revolutionaries Who Shaped History (Ten Speed), a collection of well researched, riveting biographies of extraordinary women illustrated with papercut portraits. Spanning the years of 430 BCE to 2016 and including stories from 31 countries around the world, the book includes portraits of Hatshepsut (the great female king who ruled Egypt peacefully for two decades), Malala Yousafzi (the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize) and Poly Styrene (legendary teenage punk and lead singer of X-Ray Spex). Though technically books for young adults, the books have been a hit with all ages and all are welcome tonight.
