ProPublica journalist Ken Armstrong and T. Christian Miller won a 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting the story that became their book, A False Report: a True Story of Rape in America (Crown), a story set largely in Western Washington. A False Report was recently named a 2019 Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Award winner for excellence in writing from the Pacific Northwest and today we’ll present the award to Ken Armstrong.
After the presentation, Ken Armstrong will participate in an interview and discussion with student editors and writers from The Spectator, Seattle University’s student newspaper. The Spectator won the 2018 Susan Hutchison Bosch Award for Perseverance and Quiet Courage from the Society of Professional Journalists Western Washington Chapter. Dr. Sonora Jha, Professor, Communication; Associate Dean for Academic Community; and Faculty Advisor of The Spectator, was also named the Journalism Educator of the Year by SPJ.
