Livestream - Sophie Egan with Timothy Egan

*This event will be livestreamed as it happens and then immediately available on the Town Hall YouTube channel and/or Facebook page.

A writer and nutrition expert who very much grew up in Seattle, Sophie Egan returns to her hometown from her Bay Area base to discuss her newest book, How To Be a Conscious Eater: Making Food Choices That Are Good for You, Others, and the Planet (Workman). Onstage with her in conversation will be her father, award-winning author and online New York Times columnist Timothy Egan, whose most recent book, A Pilgrimage to Eternity, has Sophie Egan and other members of the Egan Balter clan appearing in supporting roles as part of the story.

“Thought-provoking… Egan displays a talent for making the environmental complexities of food choices comprehensible… [A] thorough primer to combining health consciousness and environmental responsibility.” – Publishers Weekly.

“The clearest, most useful food book I own. Thank you, Sophie, from my stomach, farm animals everywhere, and my great-great-grandchildren.” —A.J. Jacobs.

In addition to writing this, and her earlier book, Devoured, Sophie Egan is Director of Health and Sustainability Leadership for the Strategic Initiatives Group at The Culinary Institute of America, as well as the Editorial Director there.

Presented by Town Hall Science in partnership with Elliott Bay Book Company.
