Seattle writer and writing teacher Brenda Peterson appears tonight in conversation with one her former students, award winning journalist Margaret Combs, author of Hazard: a Sister’s Flight From Family and a Broken Boy (Skyhorse). Hazard, which is about growing up with a severely disabled sibling during the 1950s.

“A touching, highly poignant portrait of how family dynamics can survive despite disability and seemingly insurmountable challenges.”-Kirkus.

Tonight’s program includes conversation about the making of this book – that includes connecting her with an agent, the process of revision, and the Salish Sea Writing community that supported the author through this five-year process from writing to publication.

Brenda Peterson is the author of many books, most recently of Wolf Haven and of Wolf Nation (forthcoming from DaCapo in May).
