Mary Lou Sanelli
Poet, prose writer and dance teacher Mary Lou Sanelli reads from her novel, The Star Struck Dance Studio of Yucca Springs (Chatwin Books), the story of two dancers, determination and the struggle to forgive. Mary Lou Sanelli, also a dance teacher, has received an Artist Trust GAP Award, a Jack Straw Writers Award and a GoodReads Notable Book Award. This afternoon’s program will open with a performance by dancers from West Seattle Performing Arts, under the direction of Ballet Mistress Stephanie Cain.
“This is a story that explores the wide range of human emotion as if from behind the intimate curtain of a dance studio; the meaning of family in all its diverse varieties; determination; the struggle to understand ourselves and the behavior of others; the hope that comes from compassion and acceptance; and resilience.”
