Seattle’s 7/49 bus line takes riders from Rainier Beach to the University District and carries over 11,000 people every day. If you’re a regular evening rider on this route, you might know bus driver Nathan Vass, who has written about his experiences in his blog, “The View from Nathan’s Bus,” since 2012. Today he’ll speak about some of the short essays and photographs collected in his book, The Lines That Make Us (Tome Press). Nathan Vass is also a photographer and a filmmaker whose work has been shown at the Seattle Art Museum and at the Henry Art Gallery. The stories that he tells in The Lines That Make Us remind us to look around and think about who we’re riding with.
