This nascent literary festival continues today, first with this program discussing aspects of race, gender, and publishing in the U.S. Amitava Kumar is the author of numerous fiction and non-fiction works published in the U.S., India, and elsewhere. Immigrant, Montana was his first book to be published by a larger U.S. publishing house. Sharmila Sen, on this panel, can speak as both author and publisher: she is executive editor-at-large at Harvard University Press, where she oversees a lot of South Asia (and elsewhere) related matter, including the ambitious and vital Murty Classical Library of India project.
