Paola Gianturco

Globally, groups of activist girls between the ages of ten and eighteen are advocating for social, economic and political justice. Imagination and courage radiate through the stories of fifteen girl-led nonprofits in thirteen countries, whose stories are told in their own words in Wonder Girls: Changing Our World (powerHouse Books). Author-photographer Paola Gianturco will share stories and photographs about real-life Wonder Girls from her travels with her eleven-year-old co-author (and granddaughter) Alex Sangster. Paola Gianturco, whose books include Grandmother Power: A Global Phenomenon, has documented women’s issues in 62 countries.

Presented by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Affairs Council-Seattle, the Global Fund for Women, The Channel Foundation, and Elliott Bay Book Company. Free but pre-registration required. ID required and no admissions after 6:15 p.m.
