Paul Constant with Brangien Davis
Paul Constant, co-founder with Martin McClellan of SeattleReviewofBooks.com, appears tonight on our stage with two new publications of his own. He’ll be joined by noted Seattle arts writer Brangien Davis. The Wrong Earth, which also includes contributions from Tom Peyer and others, collects the smash-hit miniseries that launched AHOY Comics. On dark, gritty Earth-Omega, masked vigilante Dragonfly punishes evil maniacs and evades corrupt authorities. On sun-splashed Earth-Alpha, costumed crook-catcher Dragonflyman upholds the letter of the law. Now they're trapped on each other's worlds, where even the good guys don't share their values! This volume also collects all the original Stinger and Dragonflyman backup stories, plus extra behind-the-scenes features.
He will also speak about his new series, Planet of the Nerds, in which Three high school jocks in the 1980s are accidentally frozen by an experimental cryogenics device, only to be revived in the computer-driven, superhero movie-loving world of 2019--an era ruled by nerds! Planet of the Nerds features art by Alan Robinson.
Paul Constant, a former bookseller at Elliott Bay, has written for The Stranger, Los Angeles Times, The Seattle Times, among others. He is currently a political messaging fellow at Civic Ventures.
