Thomas Lowe Fleischner, Edie Dillon, Saul Weisberg, Peter Kahn Jr.

In Nature, Love, Medicine: Essays On Wildness and Wellness (Torrey House), psychologists, poets, biologists, artists, and more explore the notion that attentiveness to nature represents an essential pathway to sanity and health, for both individuals and societies. The book’s fundamental premise is that humans are—literally—born to pay attention to nature, and are physically, psychologically, and socially healthier when we do. Edited by Thomas Lowe Fleischner, the contributors include Jane Hirshfield, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Gary Paul Nabhan, Lauret Savoy, and others.

Thomas Fleischner is joined tonight by some of the contributors to the book: sculptor and environmental artist Edie Dillon; Peter H. Kahn, Jr., author of Technological Nature: Adaptation and the Future of Human Life, and editor of the journal, Ecopsychology; and poet and naturalist Saul Weisberg, executive director of North Cascades Institute.

Co-presented with the Natural History Institute.
