I can't give this book, and Terrance Hayes, enough praise. He is a master of poetic form as he brings beautiful nuance to old forms, as well as crafting new ones.

In a mild sense, this book changed my life and how I thought about literature and storytelling. There is a wonderful sense of restraint in the writing and how the characters are presented. It speaks so much to the complexity of people and the communities they live in.

A really fascinating book that places Puryear's sculptures and two-dimensional work side-by-side. A great view into his mind in how his drawings become translated into sculpture; or, a rare view into how his drawings and prints fit into his immense body of work.

A wonderful collection of fun and goofy poems that are great to read aloud. Illustrations are fantastic and unique. Awesome book!
